Many of you have attended my “Introduction to a Joyful CEO Life” webinars and have heard me talk about taking a Joy Break.
This week I’m taking a break from the JJJ - Julie’s Joyful Jolt and bringing you information on why taking a Joy Break two or more throughout your day is so vital to your mental health.
Did you know that studies show after 90 minutes, your brain will begin to take a break?
You will begin to lose focus and become fatigued, and your mind will begin to wander.
So give your brain a break several times a day because:
1. The part of the brain responsible for decision-making and judgment works creatively when the brain is quiet.
2. Moments of insight occur when the brain unwinds.
3. Multi-tasking actually slows down thinking and output, which impacts productivity.
4. A break can help to refocus your attention.
5. Planned breaks can help minimize distractions that may cause a negative onslaught of thoughts.
So take five minutes right now to stretch, listen to music, grab a snack, let the sunshine in, water your plants, write a quick note, read a mantra, or write one thing you are grateful for right now.
